How Much Do Sponsors Pay YouTubers

Today I´m going to talk about how much do sponsors pay YouTubers and how YOU can be prepared for it when the time comes.

So, how much do sponsors pay YouTubers? YouTubers charge brands anywhere from $10 to $100 per 1,000 views, depending on the channel´s niche and the number of total views, on average, each video will get. If the video hits 100.000 views, then the YouTuber makes anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000.

That being said, there are a few things you should know as an upcoming professional on YouTube that wants to work with brands on the near future.

1. Know Your Numbers

If you want to get paid as BIG channels you have to act like the top YouTubers do!

What do I mean by that? Well, simple, you HAVE TO know-your-numbers.

How many views per month does your channel accumulate? How´s your audience retention numbers? How does your total watch time looks like?

By knowing exactly how your channel is doing you can easily design a plan on how much you can charge per thousand views, where should you “place” your sponsor’s pitch, and how to take full advantage from a thorough strategy to negotiate with your potential brands.

Another important factor is that you can see if doing sponsors at all is a good idea or what type of brands might be a better fit for you according to the percentege of people that keeps watching your video after you´ve promote a product.

Crazy Fact! According to InfluencerMarketingHub: “If a channel were able to get its entire fanbase of 1,000,000 to watch two new videos per week it would receive each week $30,000+ on average!”

2. Use The Triple “F”

This comes down to the Flat Fee Formula, or as I like to call it, the triple “F”.

Basically, the main goal with it is to have something previously designed and crafted so that the ACTUAL possibilities of closing a deal are secured.

Sounds awesome, right? Well, it is! 😁

Here´s how it works:

The Flat Fee Formula is a digital tool you can send your working partners (aka brand/sponsors) or use it yourself in order to get a better sense of how much to charge for a specific task whenever you are about to close a deal or you´re both on the negotiation stage.

Like this:

For example, if you are going to use, review, and promote a product on a video but you´re only going to mention it on the firt few seconds of your video you´ll charge X amount of dollars.

Now, if you are going to extend on what the properties of the product/service are, and how good it is and how much you love it then you can charge a different fee. Like Alpha M does on his videos.

You get the idea!

Once you´ve hit a certain number of subscribers, your views are becoming steady (and hopefully growing by the day!), and you know you can influence your fans yo buy something from you, then it´s time to make your spread sheet by using your own Flat Fee Formula.

Get to know your numbers and define your minimum and maximum parameteres you could charge for certain type of promotions. That´s it!

3. ¡Take-More-Notes!

One of the very first things you should probably do is to start looking for examples of how other YouTubers usually make sponsor videos, what are their earnings (if possible), and correlate numbers to get approximate.

It might sound complicated, but it isn´t, I promise.

Here´s how to do it:

  • Find a YouTuber that it´s within your niche or industry, or at least closely related, but way bigger than you.
  • Go to their channel, click on videos and type strings like “sponsor”, “sponsorship”, etc, to find content that has some information on this.
  • Finally, TAKE NOTES.

Although it seems pretty simple now, you probably didn´t even think about doing that, right?

Now, if you are wondering if works or if you are going to find ANY sort of useful information by doing this, then you should do your own research and find examples of other YouTubers that share their numbers, how they get in contact with brands, and what are their own tips to promote products.

One last tip…

You want to promote product or services that you ACTUALLY like or would use, you shouldn´t promote any sort of brand that you don´t consider worth being promoted.

This goes about making your audience and viewers your first priority at all times.

Setting the money aside, do not ever forget that your fans are the ones that support you as you build your reputation as a YouTuber, no matter the niche or topic you choose to work on the people that choose to watch your videos should be always your number one concern.

Last but not least, you should start taking more notes. Period.

4. Simplify With FameBit

Another thing you can do to make things much simpler and get leverage if you are just getting started with brand sponsorship is to use services like Famebit.

Now, in case you´ve never heard of it before Famebit is the perfect place for small and medium size YouTuber that want to connect with the big brands but just don´t know how.

They will make the heavy lifting for you and you won´t have to worry. Whether is by finding you new sponsors who want to pay you, big and small brands that are a GOOD fit for your channel, and they´ll even manage the payments, all in exchange for a small fee.

In fact, you should consider using this brand and creators marketplace as you´ll be able to focus on the two most important aspects of your channel, the content, and your audience!

Here´s how it works:

As a creator, you´ll be able to make branded content on your own terms, you can choose your sponsors, set your price, and earn money while you do it.

As a brand, you can launch a campaign for free, receive proposals from interested partners and easily manage the numbers from one single place that is highly optimized for it.

Famebit Alternatives

Now, if you are not convinced yet then you might want to check out some of the other platforms out there that offer a similar service that Famebit but with their own proposal.

Here are three of the most popular ones:

  • Inzpire.me – This one is a great marketplace, similar to Famebit, but with their own set of offerings and brand deals. In fact, they even work with brands like McDonald’s, Unicef, and L´oréal. It is a great place you might want to consider as a content creator who wants to take his channel to the next level. You can sign up for FREE and get started immediately. They even offer their own awards to the top creators on the platform, which is a great opportunity to be featured on their monthly newsletter and get your best work shown as well as win a $1000 gift card. 😲
  • Rep – Another place you should check out if you are trying to find what´s your best fit as a content creator. Here you´ll find all sort of brands and agencies willing to work with you. You can get started for FREE and get some leverage with their time-saving tools to further optimize your reach.
  • Heepsy – Last but not least, Heepsy is a different beast, in fact, you can´t sign up as an influencer, but that´s actually a good thing. Why? Simply because you´ll show up on their platform automatically once you´ve reached 5000 followers/subscribers. Heepsy is an artificial intelligence software that collects and analyzes data in order to best serve their users (brands & agencies). So, don´t worry about it, just be aware that you could be contacted by brands that found you on this great platform. Plus! they offer a great service for influencers to find other influencers if you are looking to do your next collaboration video.

5. You´ll Never Know…

Due to the fact that how much YOU can actually charge for every view depends on various factors it´s practically impossible to say with reliable accuracy how much you´ll get paid…

…at least until you start making enough videos so that brands actually want to work with you!

Unless you stop worrying too much on how much should you be charging per thousand videos you´re never going to get to that level where it won´t matter that much because you´ve acumulated so many fans that you will have the most important thing to negotiate with: LEVERAGE.

So, if you don´t want to be thinking, calculating, and “mathematacing” things that much then you NEED to start thinking of how to gain more subscribers and build a fanbase that you can use for leverage when the time comes.
