How To Promote Your YouTube Channel On Quora

Today I´m going to talk about how you can promote your YouTube Channel on Quora!

Although there a number of ways you can use Quora for marketing purposes I would say that providing value to your audience and answering their most asked questions in the best way possible is an effective method to attract new viewers.

So, without much further adeu, let´s begin.

1. Create a Quora Blog

Once you´ve used Quora for a while and get comfortable with the platform (which is fairly easy to use I must say) you can start doing some research and get to know one of the most unnkown features, the Quora Blogs.

There you´ll get more noticability as not many people uses this feature for marketing purposes.

You can as well get more credibility as a content creator by providing great information on a number of topics and get more people to know all about you and your channel.

The process is simple:

As you see, with just a few clicks you can get started right away and get your very first blog post out there!

According to Quora it is a great to get an audience for people who do not have one as well as for creators who already have one but want to reach more people.

If you already have a couple of videos uploaded to YouTube you can even use them to create a transcript of what you are saying on your videos and make a post out of it.

A HUGE time saver if you ask me.

Now, you want to optimize your post and not directly upload your transcipt as it is, make sure to add a few images and a bit more information if possible.

TIP! A simple conversational style of writing with colorful images goes a long way on Quora, check out Oliver Emberton “Leading a better life” blog.

2. Monitor The Web

It sounds impossible, how the heck can you monitor the Internet by yourself, well… it´s pretty simple actually, using Google alerts!

This must be one of the most powerful FREE marketing tools out there that you are probably not taking advantage right now!

If you want to grow your own audience and get people to know you and get brand awareness then you should start using Google alerts to get more traffic and subs.

You can receive alerts on what´s happening right now on the Internet and get new opportunities every day to engage with your audience.

The best part?

You don´t even need to search for new viewers who are already interested in what you have to say, they´ll come to YOU!

Now, here´s how you should do this, start by using queries related to your niche or area of expertise like “Quora + your keyword“, then, after you´ve done this for a while you can create alerts with your own name/brand “Quora Matt Porta” for example.

That way you´ll be part of converstations that are happening right now and are related to your knowledge or interest, or that are directly related to YOU.

Being able to respond to every mention of your brand is a great way to build rapport and create further engagement with your actual viewers, as well as reach to new ones.

3. Customize Your Profile

Another thing that makes a huge difference on the platform is your profile!

As Quora will be showing your bio next to every answer you post from now on it´s something you can´t miss getting your hands on.

So, crafting a good description, highlighting your credentials, and having a nice picture is actually a BIG deal.

Keep in mind that most users that find your answer quite helpful are likelly compelled to click on your pic and get a fast read on your description to get to know you a little better.

As you can see from the picture above, there are three basic elements in every Quora profile, your picture (which should be authentic and show your face), a good description where you talk about your background and interests, and your credentials, which can be something as simple as where you live.

The whole point is the get people to know you and what you´re all about. That´s it.

4. Do Your Research

One of the most common but unused ways to get quora noticability is to take the time to do some actual research before you post your answer.

By providing relevant facts and studies, maybe a few little known secrets you can go a long way and get more upvotes as a result.

So, DO-YOUR-RESEARCH, do a couple Google searches, grab a book or watch a couple videos if necessary, but make sure your answer “outranks” others both in information quality and relevancy.

More and more marketers are getting into Quora in order to promote their sites, products, services, and such, so things are getting tougher with each year you let slip by.

If you want to make sure your answer stands out then you should make it long and thourough, at least, more thourough than your competitors.

Here´s how:

Add some data to the equation!

It´s been proven that people LOVE data that proves their point on something or simply leverages your own answer.

One of my most successful posts ever talked about things like “how many books per year does the average American read?” and things of that nature.

By the way, the answer it´s 12 books. 😉

What´s the bottom line?

You have to make some room for some data, research, or studies that make your answer and information stand out from the rest.

I promise you, most people won´t take the time to do a simple Google search that can lead to great results on the SERPs.

Simple strings like: “keyword + studies” or “keyword + research” will do the work just fine.

5. Avoid Any Self-Promotion, At First

You want to make a GOOD impression right from the start.

The easier way to do just that is by giving first, asking later, that´s it, there´s not much more to it.

In fact.

I would say that the more you give the best outcome you´ll get in the future. But, more on that later.

So, what you should do is intentionally avoid self-promotion at first, you MUST give value, great value at first, and make people interested in you that way.

If you do that for a while you´ll get people engaged with your answers and some of them will get curious about who you are, if you´ve applied the rest of the tips I´ve described before.

Although “selling” yourself is important for you to get noticed and get people head over your YouTube videos nobody likes a self-promotion kind of post (or answer), it makes you look way too selly, so be aware of your pitch, and use it right!

I´m going to talk about how you should do just that on the last point.

6. Link, The Right Way

One of the final points I want to make is that you MUST link to your YouTube videos… the right way!

Let me tell you how to do just that.

There are three simple rules to do it right and get people to go to directly to your channel/videos.

  • First things first, you MUST give the answer first, provide great value upfront, and don´t even care to mention that you have a video about it or that you even have a YouTube channel on the same topic before you´ve satisfied the user.
  • Then, you should link to your video or channel by doing one of two things, put some links through your text next to the end of your answer, simply link to your channel and ask people to go there if they want to learn more about this or that OR you can add your video Thumbnail and use it as a linkable image in the middle of your post. Only if makes sense.
  • Finally, you can add a link into your Bio, which will show in every answer you post or every time someone checks out your profile.

7. Jab, Jab, Jab, and Then ASK!

In case you haven´t read it, the book “Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook!” by Gary Vaynerchuk talks about this weird thing called providing lots of value first and then asking in return method.

It´s called HAVING PATIENCE.

You must make this a long-term plan, and although it can get really fast results the real power of it lies on building relationships and reputation with time.

Throwing some jabs first by giving away some of your best tips and tricks for free creates interest and builds trust.

How much of it you should give it´s a topic for another article…

Actually, the proportion of how much you should give first and then ask varies from one person to the next.

But.

If you want to make sure you are doing things the right way just give tons of value (or whatever “tons of value” means to you) for the first entire year and see how things grow.

By the way, Gary´s advice is that you shouldn´t expect anything to happen for the first 10 years you are building your brand…😬

Bottom line:

Be patience and build trust and relationships with time and effort.

Now, It´s Your Turn

Well, now you know how you should approach Quora in order to get some leverage and use it to build your YouTube viewership.

You can´t expect much if you don´t do the work or simply answer a few questions here and there, you HAVE TO outperform the rest.

I hope this information was helpful and that guides you in the right direction!

Have a great one.
