Vlog Apps That You Should Check Out!

Today I´m going to talk about what are some of the go-to vlog apps you might want to check out if you want to shoot, edit, upload, and optimize your entire vlogging experience from your phone.

This is a comprehensive list with some must-have tools and other options you can choose from.

Let´s start!

1. YouTube Creator Studio

if YouTube is your primary focus regarding your Vlog videos then you NEED to download the YouTube Creator Sutdio app.

It is the number one way to keep yourself updated to how do your videos perform in the platform, your analytics, etc.

You should, at least, try it out as it is a way to keep track of all your YouTube data in one place.

You´ll be able to filter and respond to comments, get important notificaction directly into your phone, update video description, tags, and thumbnail images, as well as monetization settings, and schedule the release of upcoming videos.

2. Social Blade

This magnificent app compiles data from YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, Daily Motion, and Instagram and organizes that data to make statistical graphs that help you accurately track progress and growth.

It is a simplistic way to monitor how your content is doing on the platform and how´s your projection for the upcoming videos.

Plus! You can also analyze other channels and videos as well, which can give you great ideas of how well others are doing and how you can use that to your advantage.

3. Evernote

I´ve seen many YouTubers use this great app to keep everything organized and in one place.

That´s what Thomas, with his productivity-focused YouTube channel, does.

Your scripts, video ideas, or overall shooting schedule can turn into tedious tasks to maintain if you aim for long term success.

That´s why having such a helpful tool to keep a productive workflow and don´t lose track of your progress can be a really good idea.

Evernote lets you:

  • Remember important tasks. Ideas, lists, reminders all in one place.
  • Stay organized and manage projects from different devices.
  • Clip webpages, save useful pics, take notes, scan documents, integrate with your favorite apps, and more!

There´s a lot that goes into vlogging, you have to edit, script, outline ideas, keep your storytelling or storyboarding in place, etc.

So, it would make sense to have something to rely on everytime you come up with some fresh idea you want to work with later on or simply to keep track of things.

4. TubeBuddy

Another must-have app that you need to have in order to check not only your best performance videos but also KEY metrics that will allow you to control how´s your account doing.

This app can help you improve your video SEO, has great bulk processing tools, keyword rank tracking capabilities, health reports, and many other features you can take advantage of.

Now, its main competitor as a way to monitor and improve your vlogs and overall YouTube channel is VidIQ, which also has great features to offer.

That being said, there are a few more things you should consider before choosing one of them, so keep reading.

5. VidIQ

Another super important app most vloggers and YouTubers have and use (almost) every single day.

Channels like Think Media, Jeven Dovey, Chad Wild Clay, Tim Schmoyer, Derral Eves use this app.

VidIQ is a really powerful tool that can give you insight from your videos competitors, what are the tags they are using in their videos, social engagement metrics, amongst other things.

I would say that the ONLY drawback this app has is its price (goes from free to $75/month) once you get past using the free version, which is awesome for a beginner but not so much if you want to take things to the next level.

If you compare it with TubeBuddy and you are interested in using the full version of one of these apps then simply go with TubeBuddy, its price range is much more affordable.

6. Thumbnail Maker

Before diving into some of the most used video editing apps on the market you might want to check out this one.

As you know, thumbnails are a BIG part of the potential a channel has to succeed and be discovered by others.

So, it makes sense to make the process easier but still get a great quality result for your videos.

Thumbnail Maker allows you to use stickers, different templates, dozens of fonts, filters, polish your pictures by controlling contrast and brightness, and even freestyle doodling to tap into your most creative state.

Plus! The annual subscription plan is only $4.99. Which I think is pretty cheap, even for an app.

You should check out the free version to see if it could work and then decide whether to pay for it or not.

7. InShot

InShot is a really complete app that will probably fit most vloggers as it can trim, cut, split, merge, and join your video clips if you want.

You can also fit your video into any aspect ratio, add movie-style video filters, and adjust things like brightness, contrast, saturation, amongst other things.

If there´s one tool that stands out within the app it is the blur tool, it helps blur background for your videos and photos with ease and make your compositions look way more professional.

According to some users it´s even better than apps you’d need to pay for!

One of the most used features of this app is that it can split long videos into several short video clips you can then share on social media.

8. Kine Master

Now, if you are ready for a full-featured app that can easily help you make a high-quality video then this might be a good option for you.

Here´s a quick 30- second clip that summarizes what this app is capable of:

The only drawback that I found with this app is that it´s free version adds a watermark to your videos and you need to pay to eliminate it.

You can try it for free to see if it´s a good fit for you, I must say it´s quite powerful and easy to use but the fact that it´s yearly fee it´s kind of high for an app I wouldn´t recommend it unless you are going to film most of your vlogs from your phone.

9. Power Director

This powerful multiple track timeline video editing app allows to do all sort of things, like:

  • Add video effects.
  • Use slow motion.
  • Stabilize your shots.
  • Reverse videos.
  • Edit backgrounds.

Power Director has way more than you´d need if you want to shoot good-looking vlogs of your day to day life.

There are two great features I found particularly helpful with this app, one is the ability to stabilize videos and eliminate shaky footage and keep your shots smooth.

The other is the chroma key feature that allows you to use blue screen, green screen and more- add background graphics or layer greenscreen effects over your footage to edit your backgrounds.

FACT! Aaron Marino from the Alpha M channel who has more than 5 million followers swears by this software!

10. Filmora GO

You aren’t going to make a Hollywood movie with this app but you can do many cool things that the full desktop version does as well!

It has tons of transitions, filters, overlays and different features that will make your video look way more professional.

Check out this review:

One of the things I found quite useful and really impressive as it looks beautiful is to create animated messages with the help of the text & titles library.

You can also customize color, size, font and position with ease.

11. iMovie

With a streamline design you can intuitivly make videos pretty fast without much hustle, browse your video library and choose from 14 templates with great personalized graphics.

You can create content with this easy to use app even if you´ve never used an app like this before.

Choose from 8 unique themes with matching titles, transitions, and music, and enhance your clips by using slow-motion, picture-in-picture, and split screen effects.

Also, if you already own a Mac or an iPad it´s super easy to transfer and share your projects across your devices and customize your clips however you want.

4K support is available on iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro, and later devices.

12. Adobe Premiere Clip

If you are just starting out as a content creator or as a videographer then this is a good app to get started with if you want to ever transition to the full desktop version one day.

It has the capability to drag and drop clips and photos, trim out different parts of it, adjust lighting, sync audio and music, and many other things.

The best part is that you can rapidly share your clips to your Adobe Creative Cloud and work with any of your clips and photos in your other Adobe apps.

You can easily export a project to Premiere Pro CC, the edits, music markers and Looks you applied in Premiere Clip will appear seamlessly in your timeline.

So, if you are already an Adobe fan then this is a no brainer!

13. Magisto

You can quickly create astonishing videos with the use of professional templates with Magisto or you can record, edit, and share your content at your own pace.

The KEY difference with this software is that it’s primarily promoted for business and marketing types of videos, so it doesn´t necessarily have a ton of features to get creative with it.

In fact.

The main feature it has is that it is powered by AI, Artifical Intelligence. Which is great if you don´t want to take things into your control.

If you aim to do simple stuff, get a few titles and effects on your videos, cut some of your clips and not much else then this is the perfect fit.

But, if you want to create something trully remarkable and unique then I wouldn´t recommend it.

14. Quik

The Go Pro software app that helps you make good-looking videos from your phone.

Yep, whether you use it to make content from your Go Pro clips or if you recorded something right from your phone it won´t matter as this app supports both.

You can choose amongst 23 themes, each with transitions and graphics you can easily customize and adjust to fit your style of vlogging.

Customize your vlogs:

  • Personalize your story with text overlays and title slides to make the video more engaging to watch.
  • Speed up footage or play it in Slo-Mo to make it entertaining.
  • You can even let Quik do its magic with the Smart Cuts feature. Which is pretty useful.

Of course, it has many other features but those are the ones I find more interesting if you want to try them out.

15. Lapse It

I LOVE this one!

Lapse it is actually an award-winning app, it is used for capturing amazing time-lapse and stop motion videos with your phone´s camera.

You can easily see that it offers some really powerful and unique features, like:

  • Speed up your time lapse with great precision, up to 240x.
  • Adjustable manual controls for exposure, focus, white balance, and scene modes.
  • Schedule the capture to start and stop automatically.
  • A really easy to use interface with highly intuitive features.

So, if you want to create time lapse clips with your phone and make it a part of your vlogging then THIS is the right app for you.

Although there are some limitations to the free version it offers more than enough features for you to get started.

You vlogs will look much more engaging if you add this app to your repertoire.

16. Vizmato

Vizmato is great for Vloggers as well as Instagramers.

This video editor and slideshow maker offer many filters, music tracks, effects, and various tools to work with and get the best possible footage from your phone.

Plus! You can share your videos (or GIF) on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Whatsapp, etc.

Besides the more “common” features, like a powerful video editor interface and many effects you can add to your content Vizmato has the capability to create awesome Slideshows and use cool Filters and Themes on your videos.

You can choose to use between 20 different professional filters for your videos and/or photos and share it on social media pretty quickly.

For the most part, Vizmato has similar features to most apps and it´s not necessarily a must for upcoming vloggers.

17. LumaFusion

This one is a powerful app that lets you edit 3 video/audio tracks at the same time so you can easily add photos, music, sound effects, and graphics to your compositions.

You can track, edit, and trim with professional tools like anchored clips and slip-trim.

It is a pretty COMPLETE software as it allows you to use dozens of effects to your videos, it offers great color correction tools, use LUTS, fast and slow motion clips, create multi-layer titles with text, shapes and images, and many other things.

Although it is fairly easy to use I wouldn´t recommend it for beginners as it has tons of features and uses you won´t take advantage of unless you spend enough time trying it out.

18. Cute Cut

Another great app that most vloggers can benefit from is Cute Cut.

This watermark-free app allows you to record and edit your videos without worrying about time limits.

It is available for Android and Apple and has a super user-friendly interface to work with.

One of the great things you can find in this particular app is that it supports up to six different types of media: video, photo, text, music, voice, and SELF-DRAW, which is really cool.

It means you can directly draw on your movies as it offers more than 30 different drawing tools you can play with.

Also, it has more than 20 highly customizable pre-defined transitions you can use, and great pro effectos you can add to your videos to make them looker really professional.

You can draw your movies and share your creations with your fans all within the same app!

19.Vlogit

Vlogit is a free video editor app especially made for Vloggers who want to start shooting awesome videos from their phones.

It is completely FREE and has no watermark and/or time limit when you record.

You´ll find it has a few features that have been specifically added for Vloggers and YouTubers.

For example, you can make customized intros and social stickers for your videos, maybe even create an eye-catching thumbnail for YouTube, and it exports in 1080P with no quality loss whatsoever.

You can also add music, sound effects, and voiceovers in case you want to, and it offers great clip editing tools to craft a good looking video for whatever platform you want to upload it.

I would encourage you to try it out as it is 100% free and can be a game changer if you want to make daily vlogs from your phone with ease.

20. StreamLabs

If you want to be able to stream live and make a great video, no matter where you are, direct to your YouTube audience from your phone then this is the right app.

Stream Labs lets you create high-quality live streaming videos right from your phone and gives you access to a couple of great features, like customizing your stream with pre-installed widgets like the alert box which lets you create animated clips that appear whenever a viewer engages with your channel.

There are other great features like the chat box or the tipping jar that allow you to interact with your fans.

You can login with your Twitch or YouTube account, as well as with Facebook, Periscope, and many other platforms.

Streamlabs is one of the most popular ways some gaming YouTubers get started and increase their following and create another great source of income for their channels.

21. Du Screen Recorder!

In case you want to make tutorials by showing your phone´s screen then you might want to use this free and high-quality screen recording app.

Both for Android and iPhone users this app not only allows you to record the screen from your phone but it even works as a video editor.

In fact, it has another great feature you might want to take advantage of, live streaming.

Yep, this app has the capability to make a high-quality live stream and record at the same time, without ANY time limit.

You can live stream to YouTube, Facebook, or Twitch with various resolution options, and even set your own live stream theme, as the app offers several options to do just that.

In addition to that, if you are interested in doing live streams with this app you can chat with your viewers while you use it!

My Recommendation

Now that you know what are some of the most popular apps most vloggers and YouTubers use to shoot from their phones I want to give you my personal recommendations.

First, if you don´t want to pay and you want to try a really good FREE app you should download the YouTube Creator app, Evernote or any other note-taking kind of app that would help you to keep things organized, choose between Tubebuddy or VidIQ, and iMovie or Vlogit.

Now.

The ONLY app that I would recommend you (and that I didn´t mention), if you are willing to pay for it, of course, is FiLMiC PRO

…let me tell you why.

It is one of the most powerful apps on the market right now that I´ve found gives the more control and features to create professional-looking vlogs with ease.

You can adjust the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO from your phone´s camera with a few simple taps.

I particularly found it really helpful to get that beautiful blurry background for my videos whenever I want to shoot with my iPhone.

Anyways, I hope this information was helpful, take care!
