Today I´m going to talk about how you to vlog without talking or even ever showing your face on video.
Although there are several ways you can do this, here are the most effective ones that currently work well on YouTube.
Let´s dive in!
1. Aim To Entertain
Your very first step to make engaging videos that people will watch even if you are not talking is by getting creative.
But, what does that mean?
Let´s best lead with an example of a successful (although kind of weird) YouTube channel that has built a following by smashing food to entertain the viewer.

HowToBasic has more than 10 million followers and gets lots of views evry single day just by the mere fact that they´ve made something that you couldn´t find anywhere else.
You can find many other examples of content creators that make it work with big channels where nobody is actually talking.
Another good example of this are comiplation videos like conspiracy theory videos, or sports fails videos. There are dozens of successful channels that earn substantial income by doing this.
2. Take Advantage Of Fiver
One thing most people don´t realize is that now we can hire other people for a really low cost. As little as 5 bucks!
You can hire a voice over actor for an afforable price if you know where to look for.
Here´s how:
Head over to Fiverr, search for “voice over” and see what comes up, just try to pick someone with good reviews, and that has done some previous work similar to what you need.
I mean, you have more than 7,000 option to pick from.

So, with a low cost burget you can pretty much get away with doing the voice over yourself and you´ll even have a more professional result as these people have already the proper set up to record high-quality audio.
TIP! I´ve hired people for voice over before and the best way to get best work possible is to have the script for your video already written.
3. Create Explainer Videos
You´ve probably seen these type of videos, whether is that they summarize a best selling book or have been made to give you the last fashion tips to be ready for a night out they all work great if you aim for YouTube exposure.
People like to watch, and are entertained by cartoon videos such as the one´s that The Inforgraphic Show or Practical Psichology makes.
However, you don´t need to get too fancy with it, there are plenty of great options for beginners that allow you to craft nice looking videos with cool effects, pre-made characters, and transitions.
Let me give you a few good options you might want to check out:
- Powtoon. You can create awesome looking videos and presentations in just 20 minutes, probably one of the best options out there. (Link)
- Videoscribe. The most popular animation software on the market right now, you can easily craft whiteboard videos with it and explain anything by keeping your viewers attention. (Link)
- Wideo. Over 1000 images and animation options and music tracks to choose from so that you can quickly and easily make your full HD video. (Link)
- Biteable. Another great option to create an explainer video in a snap, as they say. You can drag and drop using their templates and make really good-looking videos with it. (Link)
4. The Interviewer
You can create awesome videos by intreviewing experts or people that are related to your niche.
Try to answer common questions people have in your industry and address the most relevant queries people search for by leveraging the knowledge of other people.
Now, that´s if you want to build an educational/how-to type of channel, but if you want to entertain then you can let random folks be your content.
Like BuzzFeed does:

I know it involves some talking, but it´s well worth it!
People LOVE to watch videos like this, and/or get involved in a YouTube video (not applied to the example I just gave you 😁) if you create interseting questions that they could quickly answer on the spot.
In fact.
That is actually your main focus, the questions, make them compelling, make them funny, let me help you, you can start brainstorming with these:
- What is the sexiest name ever?
- What did you always wanted to try but never found the courage to do?
- What is the strangest thing you have seen in someone else’s home?
- What would be the absolute worst name you could give your child?
Get it? It is easy to do and can make an awesome video to watch!
So, as you see, most of the talking will be done by others, you just have to elicit interest and entertain your audience by creating great questions people won´t necessarily expect.
5. Destor Your “Voice” (or Cheat)
Here´s one of my favorites!
I know you were looking for ways to not talk in your videos so I´m going to give two ways you can “hide” your voice, one of which involves actual talking and the other won´t, ready?
First, you can simply change your voice with software and make it sound however you want, which is pretty awesome!
You can do that by using programs like Free Voice Changer, and easily modify the tone of your voice, pitch, audio stream time, volume, and many other things.

You should try it before you decide whether to use it or not, it´s pretty fun!
Second, you can use a text to speech software so that you will only have to worry about writing a script and then allow the program to create the voice over.
For example, Natural Reader software allows you to do just that and then make changes to the voice itself.
You can set the pace, if you want it to be a male or female, and many other things.
PRO TIP! If you are already using a video editing software you should try to learn more about the audio features as most of them have quite good tools to change pitch and such.
6. Become a Master Editor
This is probably one of the BEST ways to create great videos without ever saying a single word.
If you learn how to master your editing software you can pretty much do anything you want with your footage, and still make people watch the entire thing with their eyes glued to the screen.
So, if you want to not be compelled to talk EVER on your videos, then this is a must, even if you don´t like to, I would say that 99% of the times editing can save you or improve your content in a heart beat.
Whether is to make good transitions, learn how to make cool titles, effects that can keep people´s attention in the content that´s been shared, or if you want to make good looking vlogs then sharping your edit skills is needed.
That being said, you don´t need to use the best software to get started, you can easily improve your videos with the free options, like iMovie.
7. Screencasting How-tos
If you want to make tutorials but you don´t want to talk throughout the entire thing and/or talk you can destor your own voice (as I´ve previously mentioned) or simply show people how to do something with a screencast software.
You don´t even need to invest a single dime, you can use free software like OBS (Opean Broadcaster Software) and make really good videos with it.

This way you can record your screen and maybe show text or slides to explain the steps a person should take to do whatever it is that you´re teaching them to do.
In fact.
If you use software like After Effects or Filmora you can easily add some titles with animation presets to make your videos much more interesting to watch.
Now, if you want to take things to the next level then you should invest in something like Camtasia.
It is similar to OBS but on steroids!
You can record your screen, zoom in and out, add some effects, and has a pretty wide variety of editing features you can play around to make your screenrecordings much better.
